CHARGES AGAINST OWNERS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. This afternoon F. J. Needham, manager of the shipping department of the New Zealand Refrigerating Company, was summoned by the Government to attend the Magistrate's Court on Jan. 28 to defend charges laid against hint under the war regulations. No specific charge was set out, but the case is known to be in connection with the recent disaster to the coastal steamer Tainui. A similar charge has been laid against Claude Smellie, coastal shipping clerk for the company. It has not yet been served on him, as ho is at present* absent on holiday leave.
