MURDER CHARGE.
. MOTHER COMMITTED FOE TRIAL. Auckland, Jan. 8. The hearing of the charge of murdering her fifteen months' old daughter by immersing her in a creek on December 20th which was laid against Constance Elizabeth Parsonage previously described as Holts, was heard at Mercer on Tuesday, an inquest on the child being held at the same time. Dr. 11. Wake, who made a post-mor-tem examination or* the child, stated that it died from shock, due to immersion in cold water. There were iio visible signs of injury on the-body. The child was well developed, "perfectly healthy, and well eared for. Witness -had coilversed with accused, and concluded that she was suffering from mental confusion. Dr. Murray, who had visited accused at Mount Eden Prison, stated that she was not mentally normal, and apparently knew nothing of the nature and quality of what she had done. Witness considered she was insane when she oommitted the. act. The jury returned an open verdict. Accused' was committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
