RETURNS FOR LAST YEAR. SOME STRIKING FIGURES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Jan. 9, U5 a.m. London, Jan. 8. The Board of Trade returns show that the imports for December were £109,000,000 and the exports £90,000,000, increases of fifty-three and fifty-two millions respectively compared with December, 1918. The imports for 1019 were £1,632,000,000, and exports £798.000,000, represent, ing increases of £315,000.000 and £297,000.000 compared with IMS. The principal increases for the year in imports were: Food £H2,ooooOOraw materials. £ IS8,<!00,000, of whicli £40,000,000 was expended on cotton and £65,000,000 on wool. Increases in exports are: Coal, £4O. 000,000; manufactures, £22-5.000,000 including £60,000,000 worth of cotton goods and textiles and £48,000,000 worth of woollens.
