ACCIDENT AT ELTHAM.
MOTOR-CYCLE AND GIG COLLIDE. A somewhat serious accident occurred on the Rawhitiroa road,.Eltham, on Tuesday night (reports the Argus), when a collision took place between a motoreytje ridden by .Mr. R. J. Knuekcy's two sons, Erie and Alfred, and a horse and gig occupied by Messrs Ulentworth and Doull. The hoys were returning home from the Municipal Pictures, and the aeciden! occurred just as they were negotiating the dangerous corner on tin; Rawhitiroa road near Mr, Bleakley's residence. The boys did not see the approaching vehicle, which is alleged to have been carrying no lights. The bicycle hit the horse forcibly, and both the lads were thrown heavily. Tito horse was badly injured, it eventually being jound necessary to shoot the animal. The occupants of the .gig retained their seats and escaped unhurt. Messrs Glentworth and Do'.ill picked up the two unfortunate lads, who were both rendered unconscious by their fall from the cycle, and placed them on the side of the road, and then went to Mr. W. Crosby's for assistance. Finally they obtained Mr. Bleakley's car and took the lads home. Medical assistance was immediately obtained, and Dr. Cooper on his arrival found that both the injured lads were s-till unconscious, suffering from concussion of the brain nr.d numerous bruises and abrasions. It is hoped, however, that both have escaped without any broken bones.
On enquiry yesterday it was learnt that Eric, the eldest lad, was abb to get out of bed, but the younger one (Alfred) was still unconscious.
