"PORT CHRISTCHURCH."

AN ESTIMATE RECEIVED. The Mayor of Christchurch stated to a representative of The Press 011 Monday that he had received an estimate from Messrs. Tirnms and Kidman, contractors cr Adelaide, for the construction of "Port Christchurch" according to published plans. "I cannot reveal what the actual figures of the estimate are," said the Mayor, "but I can say that they are astonishingly moderate—less than half the cost of the proposed resurrection of Lyttelton and the construction of the Tunnel Road. Messrs. Timms and Kidman a]so seem to view the Port Christchurch proposal with a great deal of favor."
