MALES LEAD.

YEAR'S BIRTHS IN NEW PLYMOUTH In a return prepared by the Registrar qf Births, deatlis, and marriages for New Plymouth (Mr. J. §. S. Medley) it is shown that for the year 1919 that while the births registered at the local office totalled 416, the largest proportion of children were males, the figures being 233 as against 183 females. There were six lots of twins, and 17 children were born out of wedlock. Out of 140 deaths recorded, 14 of the persons were aged 80 years and over, and «even passed the 90 year mark, the oldest being 94.
