ROUND-THE-MOUNTAIN CYCLE RACE.

To the Editor. Sir,—Through the medium of vour paper, I would like to make enquiries regarding a matter that is of great interest to a large number of athletes all over New Zealand, namely, the Round-the-Mountaln Cyclo Race. What !s being done about it 1 If I remember rightly in 1915 It was published In your columns that this notable event had been postponed until such time as the war was over. Well, the war !a over, and from what I can gather from numerous enquiries, nothing Is being done, as yet towards carrying on with this trial of enduraace which has not only drawn riders from all over New Zealand, but Australia as well. I would suggest that If this race is going to be held again it should be aoom April Instead of September, as In previous years My reason for this Is that one would have many months of warm, fine weather In which to train, whereas if held in September the weather conditions for months previous are all against one getting tho very necessary training required for this long and arduous ride. 1 understand that funds and trophies are held In New Plymouth, so there should be no great difficulty regarding prizes.—l am, etc., A RIDER. Eltham, December 5.
