THE LIBERAL PARTY.
MEETING THIS WEEK. A meeting of the members of the Liberal Party will be held this week to consider several questions of importance, to the Party, including the appointment of a successor to Sir Joseph Ward as Leader of the Liberal Opposition in the House. 'Die Hon. W. D. S. McDonald, Acting-Leader of the Liberals while Sir Joseph was absent with the Prime Minister in England, is at present, in Rotorua, together with Mr. T, M. Wilford, while other prominent members of the Party, including the Hon. Arthur Mvcrs, also rendezvous at ihe thermal water-ing-place. This preliminary consultation among the Liberal me'mbers will help to expedite business when the Party caucus is held to decide about domestic policy, leadership, and reorganisation matters.
Mr. Wilford, when invited by an Auckland Star representative to express an opinion on the situation generally, and the political intentions of the Liberal Party in particular, genially declined to say anything at all. "It is not for me to speak. lam only a member of the Party. And, in any case, all I could say is in the message I sent to my own constituents: May 1020 bring peace and plenty."
