MANY ARRESTS IN AMERICA.

Palmer (tiie Attorney-Gen-eral) announced that raids on Radicals have been carried out in thirty-five citie3, and hundreds of members of the Communist party have been arrested. It is expected the total will reach a thousand. A message from Chicago states that more than two hundred Radicals have been arrested on charges of disseminating Bolshevik literature, and planning to overthrow the Government. It is reported that f>oo Communists have been arrested in New York, 300 in Detroit, and 400 in Philadelphia. It is now estimated the total will be two thousand. Reports coming in from many cities show that the Department of Justice is making a systematic attempt to thoroughly free the country from Radicals, especially members of th« Communist Party, which recently issued a manifesto advocating the overthrow of the American Government, It Is intimated the Government will begin deportation proceedings against many |of those arrested. Large quantities of Radical literature were also captured.
