RATIFICATION POSTPONED.
RUMOR OF A HITCH, By Telegraph.—Press Assß.«--CopyrigUt. Received Jan. 5, 1.45 a.m. London, Jan. 3. It is understood that the Peace Conference re-assenibly is postponed till the 9th inst. It is unlikely that ratifications will be exchanged before mid-January. It is rumored in Paris that some hitch has occurred.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
FEELING IN BERLIN. GLOOM OVER KAISER'S TRIAL. Received Jan. 4, 11.15 p.m. Berlin, Jan. 2. The suspense was relieved by the announcement that Peace was signed in Paris on Tuesday. There is deep gloom in Government circles because the Allies did not relent regarding the delivery of the Kaiser, officials and officers for trial. Herr Ebert, in a New Year's message, says: "Under pressure of ruthless compulsion, we must conclude a peace threatening to place at the mercy of foreigners our honor, our welfare, and the fruits of past and future labor." Herr Ebert called upon Germans to close up their ranks and do their utmost to reconstruct the Fatherland.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
RATIFICATION BY JAPAN. Received Jan. 4, 5.5 p.m. New York, Jan. 2. The Washington correspondent of the New York Times states the State Department has been informed that Japan's ratification of the Treaty was sent to the Secretariat of the Peace Conference on December 26.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
