THE CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Chrlstchurch, Dec. 31. The croquet championships were continued to-day in perfect weather, the lawns being in good order. The results at®:— Open championship.—Second Tound: Penn (United) beat E. J. Ross (United), 26—9, 12—26, 26—18; semi-final: Dr. Whittaker (Palmerston North) heat Williams (Sumner)! the present holder of the championship, 26—19; 25—26, 2G—O; Laurie (United) beat Penn (United), 26—19, 26—9; final: Dr. Whittaker defeated P. A. Laurie in two straight games. Ladles championship—Semi-finals'. Mrs. Johnson (Sumner) beat Mrs. McKee (Palmerston North), 20—5; Miss (JerraTd (United) defeated Mrs. Manhire (Dunedin), 20—21. Chrlstchurch, Dec. 31. The croquet tournament was continued under Ideal conditions. Results: — Now Zealand Handicap.—Third Bound: Dr. Whittaker defeated Mrs. E. A. Johnson, 26—15; .T. W. Lill defeated Miss Gerrard, 20—20. Semifinals: Mrs. "Richard defeated J. W. Lill, 26—22; Dr. \Vhittaker defeated H. P. Stratton, 20—21. Final: Dr. Whlttaker (Palmerston North) defeated Mrs. Richards (United), 2<>—2. Canterbury Championship.—Second round*. H. W. Williams defeated E. A. Johnson by two straight games; A. Ross defeated J. W. Lill by two games to ono; R. Caughley defeated F. Chambers by two games to one. Canterbury Lilies' Championship.—First round: Mrs. Lill defeated Mrs. Richardson, 26 —11; second round: Mrs. Maddren defeated Mrs. Lili, 20—25; Mrs. E. A. Johnson defeated Mrs. Murray Aynsley, 26—21. Semifinal: Mrs. E. A. Smith beat Mrs. Barnes, 26—15. Final: Mrs. Beanland (Edgeware)* defeated Mrs. E. A. Smith (Edgewarc), 26—20." Chrlstchurch, Last Night. The croquet championship tournament was concluded in ideal weather. Results:—
New Zealand Championship Doubles.—Final: A. Ross and H. A. Penn (United) defeated Dr. Whlttaker (Palmerston North) and H. P. Stiatton (Hastings), by twe straight ptimes. New Zealand Ladies' Championsnip.—Final: Mrs. E. A. Johnson (Sumner) oersted Miss Genard (United), by 26 points to 21. ' Canterbury Ladies' Championship.—Final: Mrs. E. A. .Johnson defeated Mrs. Maddren (United) by 26 points to 14.
Canterbury Championship— Semi-finals: A. Ross (United) defeated H. B J, Williams (Sumner) by two giwnes to one; R. Caughley (United) defeated H. A. Penn (United), bv two straight sanies. Tha final will be played later between Caughley and P.oss.
