SUICIDE BY DROWNING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Dec. 31. Tile body of a man was found yesterday afternoon on the beach near High Cliff. At the inquest it was shown to be that of William Scarlet, who escaped from the Ashburton mental hospital oil November 17. A body supposed to be his was seen in the sea on November 19 and a message was found indicating that lie contemplated suicide. A verdict was returned that lie committed suicide by drowning on the date mentioned while of unsound mind.
