I i VTCE-KEGAL LODGE AFFAIR. i i EVIDENCE AT THE INQUEST. By Telegraph.—Press As9n.—Copyright, London, Dec. 29. Military witnesses at the Dublin inquest gave conflicting evidence. ' Hearing Bhots behind the Kose Garden, Lieutenant Boast led out the guard, a corporal and three privates, qnountered Kennedy, who had a bandaged head, and ordered him to halt. He did not halt and the three soldiers grappled with him. One of the guards declared itm Kennedy drew an automatic pijtul with which he shot Boaat. Another witness stated that he shot Kennedy while the latter was clutching Boast's throat and attempting to secure Boast's revolver from his pocket. Another deposed that shots from six civilians who w«9 some distance away killed Boast. A soldier gave evidence that he fired another shot at Kennedy because he moved while lying on the ground. The civilians disappeared after the guards had fired sis Shotfl. The coroner drew attention to the fact that a military bullet killed Boast. The jury found that Boast was killed by a comrade while on patrol rluty afid expressed sympathy with his relatives. The three civilians arrested in Phoenix Park were released to-day.—Aus.-N.Z.
