A Palmers ton North resident, who was detected by Constable O'Reilly taking roses off a bush in the Square at Paimerston North, was recently lined £5 and 7s costs for the offence.' The Borough Council decided to award £lO to Constable O'Reilly, and sent a letter to the police thanking them for instigating a successful prosecution, and asking them not to relax th. ir efforts in this direction.
