[Sir "William Osier was Regius Professor of Medicine at Oxford University, and was 70 years of age this year. He was born in Canada and after being educated at the principal universities there he studied in England, Berlin, and Vienna, He was president of the Bibliographical Society, 1913-14; Professor of the Institutes of Medicine, McGill University, 1874-84,• Professor of Clinical Medicine, University of Penna, 18S4-S9, and Professor of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University, ISStI-lflOl. He is the author of numerous standard medical works.]
