THEIR OCCUPATION RESENTED.
FIGHTING WITH THE ARABS.
By Telegraph.—Press Aisu Conyrlnlit. Received Dee. 2!), 7.45 p.m. Cairo, Dee. 28. The French occupation of Syria is producing the predicted effects. A large force of Arabs fiercely attacked the French at Baalbek. There was eight hours' lighting, with heavy casualties on both sides.—Times Service. A cable dated London, Dec. L.i, stated: The correspondent of the Times at Cairo reports that, historic changes In the control of fevria and Cilicia, in Asia Minor, have been completed in accordance with the recent agreements. The British military administration has ended, and General Gonrand, representing France, Ims taken over Cilicia, with the occupied area to the west, including Lebanon, Beirut. Tripoli, 'and Alexamlretta. The French have also relieved the British posts at Marash, Aintab, Tfrfa, and Jerablus, where the Turks continue the administration." Emir Fcisul, on behalf of the Arabs, has taken over the eastern area., embracing Damascus, Horns, Hama and Aleppo.
