MAN'S STRANGE DISAPPEARANCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. This afternoon, George S. Hawkins, married, residing iii Linwood, went lor a bathe at Sumner. He undressed in shelter, afterwards bringing his clothes out and leaving them bsside his wife, who was Kitting on the beach. He hft*l a bathe and returned to his wife, and later he went into the sea, and has not been seen since. The police made inquiries, but were unable to find anyone who had seen the man in the water. Dragging operations were kept up till a late hour to-night, but no trace of the hody was found.
