ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
KILLED BY A TRAIN 1 .

Auckland, Dec. 27. A passenger train at 10.45 on Wednesday night ran over and killed Charles De Thuerry, aged 20, a resident of Rangariri. Presumably ho had been trespassing on the line' Rotorua, Dec. 27.
A scrub Are in the Kuirau Reserve on Friday and Saturday destroyed a large additional area of manuka. The firemen turned out twice. William Aitken, who was assisting them, was severely scalded about the feet and ankles, through the ground giving way and letting him into hot water.
A WOMAN BURNED. Auckland, Last Night. A married woman, Mrs. Catherine Benjamin, of Rocky Nook, was admitted to the hospital to-day, in a serious condition. Mrs. Benjamin was carrying a candle early this morning, when her nightgown caught alight, and she was very severely burned about the body.
A MOTOR CAR FATALITY. Gisborne, Last Night. At an inquest concerning the death of Moana Hemi Totoro, as a result of a motor car accident on Kaiti beach on Boxing Day, the evidence showed that the car was travelling at about fourteen miles an hour, when it skidded in turning a corner. A wheel came off, and the car capsized. Totoro was found underneath the car. A verdict of accidental death was returned, no blame being attachable to the driver of the car.
