IN THE GREAT WAR. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Dec. 26, 9 a.m. London, Dec. 21. General Monash, writing in the Sunday Times, describes the capture of Peronne and Mont. St. Quentin. He says: "When • I telephoned to General Rawiinson that we had obtained a footing at Mont St. Quentin he was totally incredulous at first, and then sent a generously congratulatory message, proclaiming that the event would have a most important influence on the immediate course of the war."
General Monash continues: "The execution of the tactical purposes resulting from these captures furnishes the finest example in this war of a spirited and successful infantry action,"—Aus.-N.Z. CabW Assn.
