KNIGHTHOOD FOR ROSS SMITH.

Captain Boss Smith' has arrived at Charleville. MORE ABOUT THE DISASTER. London, Dec- 20. Lloyds' agents at Corfu reports that Cretan peasants heard shouts on the night of the 9th. They showed signals, but.were unable to assist Captain Howel], whose machine was found Inverted. It is not improbable that the bodies were entangled in the wreckage.
SIR J. ALCOCK'S DEATH. London, Dec. 20. The theory of Sir John Alcock's death is that he was not carrying the instruments necessary above the clouds. He got into a cloud which got lower and lower until in the r-emi-darkntfss the machine struck a tree and crumpled up. A message from Rouen says thit Sir J. Aleock was flying low in a. fog to find his whereabouts when a wing struck a farm house. Alcock had his skull fractured and never regained consciousness.
