DEFENCE IN THE AIR.
PROPOSALS POP NEW ZEALAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Minister for Defence, questioned regarding the aviation scheme mentioned by him while in the South Island, said he could not at present give particulars of these proposals. They were now under consideration by a special committee, including Commander Williams, which was discussing naval, military and aerial defence with a view to co-ordinating all branches. He received a draft report from the committed, but could not Bay when the final report would 1)6 available for submission to himself and to Cabinet. i Asked if this would cover civil aviation, Sir James Allen said the military organisation would not include civil flying, though it would encourage its development! Colonel Bettiugton's report and recommendations concerning aerial defence would be dealt with in this report.
