The retail butchers are'unaMe to 03tain rush orders from the city abattoirs, ' owing to the refusal of the permanent slaughtermen to work with the extra casuals. The situation arises owing to a refusal of the men's demands for substantial increases on the piecework Tates ruling in the freezing industry. Many milk lambs have been turned into the paddocks and are going back in quality, while mutton and lamb are likely to be scarce for Christmas.
