INCREASED RAILWAY FARES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, Dec, 20. Cabinet lias approved an increase in railway fares by 20 per cent., freights 10 per cent., and trams a halfpenny extra on the second and third sections. WAR GRATUITY TO TEACHERS. Melbourne, Dec. 20. The Cabinet is paying a fortnight's salary to all teachers who went to the front for each year spent on active service. SIX O'CLOCK CLOSING. Melbourne, Dec. 20. The Assembly passed the Bill providing for permanent six o'clock closing.
