MISHAP TO KARORI.
EVIDENCE AT THE INQUIRY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Yesterday. Mr. Widdowson, S.M., chairman, in giving his decision in the Magisterial inquiry regarding the mishap to the Karori said the opinion of the court was that the casualty was caused by the ship taking a sheer in a, strong flood tide which threw her out of position, and through not answering the helm in sufficient time to enable her to clear the danger. In the circumstances the court exonerated the master, officers and crew of the ship from all blame. The accident was in no way attributable to any defect in the ship's gear and the master and officers acted with all prudence after the accident. The certificates of the master and officers, would be returned. Captain Hoplciji's was allowed costs.
