PERSECUTION OF JEWS.

ZIONISM THE ONLY EEMEDY. SMUTS ON NEW STATE. London, Nov. 17. The Jewish Correspondence Bureau reports that at a large demonstration in Johannesburg, held to celebrate the second anniversary of the British Government's declaration in favor of a Jewish Palestine, the Prime Minister of South Africa, General Smuts, referred to the outbreak of anti-Jewish persecution in Eastern Europe, and said that the late Getrerai Botha Had resigned" tliff Chairmanship of the Polish Commission at the Peace Conference owing to the atrocities in Poland.
