The Commission has commenced hear ing evidence in the charges Judge Bevan, Mr. Carey, and Dr. wi ruth, that they were all interested in i mine at Daley River, of which the leasi was granted to Dr. Gilruth, and tna Judge Bevan and Dr. Gilruth were ta real- owners. This, it was alleged shook the confidence of the people of th Territory to such an erteut as to caus the recent trouble. Dr. Gilruth and Mr. Carey were als charged with having been prepared t give improper consideration to the tin of Vesteys, to enable them to sell thei meat works to the Government.
