The Washington correspondent of the Tines says that it is expected that Earl Grey will shortly retire and return to England. It is understood that he had accepted the Ambassadorship temporarily, in order to settle matters between the United States and England, arising from the war, but owing t< President Wilson's illness, Earl Grey will probably leave without reaching a settle-ment—Ans.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
