DAVIS CUP CONTESTS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright, Sydney, Dec. 5. A wireless message has.been received that the British Davis Cup team expects to reach Frenvintle to-morrow.

NEW PLYMOUTH v. HAWERA.

The New Plymouth Club will Bend a 'team to Hawera to-day to play the local elub. The teams will be as follows: New Plymouth: Misses Rundle, Simpson, M. Thompson, Kirkby, Greatbatch, ileadames Balharry, Nicholson and VV. C. Weston, Messrs. Nicholson, C. Webster, feyder, Glover, Balharry, Fookes, Kockel and E. Griffiths. Hawera: Misses Horner, Caplen (2), Young, R. Blake, D. Huggins, Mrs Smith, Mrs. Gibson (emergency Miss W. Huggins), Messrs Eoden, Caplen, Kururangi, Leece, Douglas, Chisholin, Blennerhassett, and Hay.

NEWS AND NOTES.

The Taranaki Association has decided I not to hold a tournament this season. Says the Auckland Herald: "It is understood that the Taranaki Association 1 is sending a team to play Auckland during February or March next, but so far no official advice has been received from the Taranaki Association; nor, of course, are particulars of the team available." It is understood Taranaki will send a team about the .time mentioned. Tho following details regarding the British Davis Cup team are "taken from the English press:-—The Selection Committee has nominated Lieutenant-Colon-el Kingscote, M.C., Mr. A. H. Lowe and Mr. A. C. Beamish to play in the ehal-j lenge round of the Davis Cup at Sydney this autumn against the holders, Australasia. It looks as if all idea of air tempting a win in the doubles were given up. Whether we can win three singles is a question. Mas Woosnam could not make the journey. He and Turnbull are just now an English hone in doubles. For the first time since 1914, when it was held in Duuedin, the Now Zr.aland Championship Meeting will be held, this year on the Wellington College Grounds, where six grass courts are being prepared. This meeting, which is to commence on 20th December, and continue until 30th December, will be the 30th. meeting under the auspices of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, and should prov» a complete success, as much work lias been put into the arrangements. As is the case with iho Wellington Association meeting, provision has been made for junior events, Boys' Championship Singles and Gir.V Championship Singles. The other events are Men's Championship and Handicap Singles and Doubles and Ladies' Championship and Ilanlicap Singles und Doubles; also Combiiwd Championship Doubles. It is anticipated that the entries will be numerous, and will include the pick of tennis players from New Zealand. Taranaki will be represented at the Dominion meeting by Dickie, \\ allace, Nicholson, and Webster.
