Stainton has been run out in throo successive Innings.
There were five run outs In the New Ply-mouth-Old Boys' game, while three' batsmen wore dismissed by l.b.w. decisions. Heskett, Sutherland and Quickfall all scored a hit for six off the Old Boys' bowling. Lash gave a bright exhibition. Doubles of 26 and 33, are not at all bad. His catch that dismissed Oliver was a beauty. Oliver injured his hand attempting to. catch a ball from neskett. The injury affected his batting, and he looted relioved when dismissed by Lash's neat catch. Eggleton secured two fine catches—Heskett and Sutherland. Neither were.easy chances, but the samo player, In Heskett's first innings appeared to let the ball slip through his hands when going for a chance near the. boundary. Old Boys gave nothing away In the field, and Were triers throughout the nftarnoon. In batting they never rose to the occasion, and in this department were outclassed by their opponents. Johnson (New Plymouth) kept a fine length, and bowling just outside tho wicket batsmen found it hard to score oft him. Bottriil and Hughes were very patient, waiting for tho occasional loose one, which they Invariably scored. Johnson's average would have been considerably increased had chances off his bowing beerT accepted. Sutherland was also well on the spot, and his success in dismissing the earlier batsmen had much to do with the Old Boys' defeat. New Plymouth had a comfortable win against Inglewood. Gudgeon assisted his club, but the veteran did not rise to tho occasion, as he failed to score a run, and had 23 runs scored off his bowling without securing a wicket. Ho is by no means a back number, and will get amongst the wickets again in future matches. Ernie Cole, who has been a fine "all-rounder" for Toko and South Taranakl, assisted Inglewood, and with tho bat, gavo a great display of forceful hitting, his score of 35 including four sixes. With the ball he had no luck, 50 runs going against him for no wickets. For New Plymouth, Stalnton had a dry rot. He kept wickets splendidly, allowing only three extras, caught ono man, and then helped himself to 30 runs, and was still not out when! play ceased. Weston also hit freely for his I 34 runs, and was shaping nicely when he broke j his wicket. Dlnnlss is proving a useful change bowler, and his average of five for 38 Is distinctly good. Tho Albion eleren are all triers. Although each weeks sees them faced with defeat thev are not d'smayed. Against Walreka they confidently anticipated a win, but although they gathered in 05 runs, it was mainrv a lonehanded effort by Woods, who rattied up 30 before a run out decision caused his retirement. In the second Innings, Oliver laid fho wood on his total of 20 not out, Including some lusty hits. In bowling he had the Unique record of six successive maiden overs with two wickets. Elliott la a better bowler than his captain imagines. Four wickets for 8 runs in six overs with two maidens Indicates that ho might have had a longer period at the bowling crease. Waireka are rapidly Improving in their fielding work, while the batting Is also steadily improving. Currin, who notched U not out played good cricket whilst his bowling broke up some promising partnershins of Albion. A mating of the North Taranakl Cricket Association is tn bo held on Wednesday neit at 7.30 In the Soldiers' Club. It. is understood important business Is to be considered. It Is understood that tho Inglewood Club has lodged a protest against the win of the New Plymouth team against them on Thursday on tho ground of the Inclusion of so manv Saturday players in the team
