INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Yesterday. The New Zealand Institute of Architects to-day resolved to express dissatisfaction at the proposed new method of appointing technical school boards and to interview the Director of Technical Education with the view of arranging for better representation on the boards of the various trades and professions taught in the schools. Regarding the housing scheme it decided to endeavour to have the architectural and lay-out work done under this direction of registered architects in conjunction with the engineering staff of the local body concerned. It was resolved that the promotion of competitions for architectural work be discouraged, except for work of great public or national importance.
