LETTS CAPTURE MITAU. MUCH BOOTY CAPTURED, By Telegraph.—Press Asim>-Copyrlght. Copenhagen, Nov. 23. The Letts have captured Mitau and are driving the Germans towards the Lithuanian frontier.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Received Nor. 27, 5.5 p.m. Paris, Nov. 24. The Letts took Mitau after six hours' desperate fighting. They captured much booty. GERMANS IN RETREAT. FIGHTING CONTINUES NEAR MITAU. ! Received Nov. 27, 7.15 p.m. Copenhagen, New. 24. The capture of Mitau was effected from the north-west. The booty secured was very large. Fighting continues to the south-east of the captured town. Bermondt's beaten troops have been obliged to re- | treat south-east from Mitau to the Lithuanian frontier, instead of directly to Germany. ! The German retreat on the Libau front is proceeding towards the Lithuan-ian-German frontier. The Lett advance has been aided 1 by a large amount of captured German ammunition.—Reuter ■Service.
