Heavy rioting followed the mistaken use of ball cartridge by Egyptian soldiers in a squad who were ordered to fire blank ammunition. British troops attempted to restore order with pick-axe handles, but were compelled to fire. Twelve were killed. Nationalist delegations have appealed to the Egyptians to seize independence. ~The appeal' says they ;'.re tile masters of Egypt ,and will write glorious history.
