MUNICIPAL BY-ELECTION.
TWO CANDIDATES IN THE FIELD. For the %-acancy on the New Plymouth Borough Council, caused by the resignation of Mr. James Clarke, who was elect* ed to the Mayoralty, there have been two candidates nominated, Messrs A. E. Sykes, a former councillor and a. gentleman who has been closely identified with all the progressive movements In the town, and Mr. W. H. Fitzpatrick. Mr. Sykes has been nominated bjfi Messrs. C. Carter, N. Allen, C. H. Burgess, S. D. Sole, A. K. Smart, and L, A. Nolan. Mr. Fitzpatrick has been nominated by Messrs. P. B. Fitzherbert, W. Nash, P. J, Clancy and R. J. Clarke. The poll will be taken on Wednesday next, December 3. Only those whose names aro on the municipal roll will, be entitled to vote. Practically tb,e same roll will be used as was used at the recent Mayoral by-election.
