In the Assembly, the Chief Secretary, moving the second reading of a Bill permanently closing hotels at 0 o'clock, said the Government wanted to do justice to the liquor trade, but the permanent shut- [ ting at six o'clock would be in the best interests of the community. The law [applies to the liquor trade, temperance, bars, and billiard rooms, and severe penalties are provided for,—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
