At a meeting of the Stratford School Committee last evening, the appointment of Mr. E. M. Parrott to . the position of ninth assistant was confirmed. The Swimming Club was granted permission to hold a carnival at the baths early in December, and the baths committee was authorised tj) make arrangements with the club for the season. _ The Methodist Tennis Club opened for the season yesterday at Mr. J. i). Boon's residence. The opening .ceremony was performed by Mrs Boon. Afternoon tea was served. The Rev. R. B. Tinslcy, on behalf of the joung people of the church, thanked Mr. Boon for laying down the court, and both Mr. and Mn Boon were thanked for their kiudncs, to the club. After his -address at Inglewood on Thursday evening, Major Hine was entertained at supper by' his committee in Messrs Lealand Bros' Tea lloom*. A number of short speeches were given in ■which Major Hine was congratulated on his appointment to the Ministry and assured of strong support in the Inglewood town and district. Details of Mr. T. I. Lamason's usual Saturday mart sale will be found on page Bof this issue. Particular attention is drawn to the list of furniture to be sold on behalf of Mr. Curreen.
