MILITARY SANATORIUM.
• THE iIECENT COMPLAINTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A report Ims been received by the Defence Minister from Brigadier-General McGavin on the complaints made by R.S.A. rewarding the military sanatorium at jVukoroa. The statement that the sanatorium cost was £60,000 is, says General McGavin, a gross exaggeration. The tottU cost, including shelters, land, machinery, electric lighting and laundry will be £33,807. The personnel of attendants is comprised cliieily of returned soldiers. Many of these' have proved unsatisfactory, and been discharged. More suitable men are enlisted as they become available. The female staff will be increased. The institution was quite ready in all essentials before the patients Were placed therein. The patients, with only two exceptions, are happy and contented. All except one stated th,e„v had no complaint to make. The one stated be disliked boiled mutton, but admitted that alternative dishes were provided. A still wider field of selection has been arranged for. Notices arc posted in the sanatorium that anj patient having a complaint to make will do so to the officer in charge. The officer in charge asserts that he has had not heard of many complaints before reading reports in papers. The method adopted by the patients of reporting through a. complaints committee to the R.S.A. is not only devious, cumbrous ami wasteful of time, but causes quite unnecessary annoyance and discontent to the staff, rendering the smooth working of the institution difficult, i
