GALLIPOLI

MORE LIGHT WANTED. THE TIMES' COMMENT, By Telegraph.—Press Assn.-' Copyright. Received Nov. 21, 1.15 a.m. London, Nov. 18. The Times, in a leader, complains that the second Gallipoli report was issued suddenly, not allowing time lor proper comment. It was a remarkable contrast to the sanity, vigor and balance of j the interim report, perhaps because, deprived of Lord Cromer's strong lead, it gives the impression that the Commission relaxed in its determination to tell all the truth. Sir Thomas Mackenzie's minority report states decisively that some of the evidence was given in an over-rcti ; cent manner, and supports Sir Thomas Mackenzie's request for further inquiry in regard to certain points. FATE OF HISTORIC VESSEL. London, Nov. 17. There are many protests from Ireland against the proposal to break up and sell the River Clyde, which was beached at Gallipoli. It is suggested that the vessel should be sent to Dublin as a memorial of the participation of the Irish in the Gallipoli landing. The Admiralty replies that the attempt to bring the ship homewards will probably result in her foundering, and it is better to convert her into cash. Moreover, says a prominent commander, the Anzacs might dispute Ireland's claim. [The River Clyde was used at Helles, and the Anzacs did not land there.]
