LIFE-SAVING SOCIETY.

MEEMNG OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of iho executive of tho North Taranakl Head Centre of the Royal LifeSaving Society was held last night, titers I being present: Messrs. J. Bennett (in the chair), A. R. Standish, W. Hardgreaves, N. C. Christiansen, and N. Winter. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. W. C. Weston, P. C. Mathieson, and W. Ainsworth. Messrs. J. Scanlou aud J. Geddis were elected members of the Centre. It Wiis decided to leave tho appointment of of a successor to Miss Falrbrothor in abeyance for the present: Rulos and commands for the championship and Hughes Cup competitions were presented, end it was decided that a copy bo sent to each school so that all competitors would know exactly the commands required by the judge iu putting teams tnrougU the different drills. It was decided that tho school competition should commence at the end of February ia team's own water, and the finals take place early in March in the New Plymouth baths on a date to be arranged. It was decided that no second prize should be given in the Tabor Shield competition unless three or more teams entered. In retard to the claiu for tho competition Mr. Christiansen Bald it would be unfair to liuvo it early in February as school teams nould bo placed in an unfair position as the pupils did not return until the beginning of the month. A team was practically' assured from tho Boys' High School and it was hoped tho Girls' School would also put In :i team. It was agreed to write to the Waitara Club suggesting that tho contest be held at the end of February or early in March on a date on which the tide would be suitable. Votes of thanks were passed to Miss J. R. Barr and tho s!aff of the Herald office for a donation of £1 Is each.
