CIVIL FLYING.
MANY EMPIRE AIR ROUTES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Nov. 13. The Air Ministry reviews the halfyearly progress in civil aviation. It points out a considerable advance in the reconnaissance and development of Imperial air routes. The Cairo-Karachi route will soon be available for civil traffic. The CairoCape route has- been surveyed and a chain of landing places established which will bp available as an experimental basis at the end of the year. A full reconnaissance of the India-Australia route has been completed. A return shows that -21,000 flights were made in the half year and one passenger injured for every 52,000 earned. The Ministry has established a service of experts in England to proceed to investigate an accident on the spot immediately it- is reported". The work has hitherto been light. ' The department produces a .weather map every six hours, forecasts the weather on various routes, and the speed and direction of the upper wind. The carriage of continental and Imperial mails-promises to be, most important and its regular demands will serve to develop civil aviation.—Aus - i N.Z. Cable Assn.
