THE GREAT AND THE SMALL.
Eo the Editor. Sir,—There is a suspicion that tho agitation of the heacw against the reappointment of Professor ron Zedlits carries more than a racial significance, and that were it. not for tho salary attached to the office much less would be heard of the matter. Evidently these gentlemen think that competition with ' tho alien is all right so long as it is confined to the bottom dog. If, however, it is right and just that Bill Bowyang and von Snurkraut should compete for a draining contract, then it is equally right and just that Lomax Gilhooley and von Zcdlitz should compete for it professor's chair. If the professor can' deliver the goods lie has ns much right to live as any other alien in the country, and if he hasn't this risht, then neither has any other of his nationality, no matter in what walk of life he may • be.—l am, etc., I . ' FRANK BELL. Toko, 13th November.
