MAJOR HINE AT WHANGAMOMONA.
To the EStor. / Sir,—ln the report of the political meeting addressed by the Hon. J. B: Hinc at Whangamomona, on Tuesday; evening I am credited with moving the, following resolution: "That the meeting accord the speaker a hearty vote 6f thanks, and record the appreciation of those present for the capable Banner in which Major Hine had carried, rati his duties as a Cabinet Minister." Kow,j Sir, I do not. know who is responsibly for the report of the meeting, but it is! certainly contrary to fact. My resolution was that the speaker be accord-' ed a vote of thanks, arul, in speaking to the resolution, I distinctly stated it was useless adding a vote of confidence, as I know he did not have the«onW fidence of those, present. The state- -i ment alleged to me that I expressed appreciation of his services as a Cabinet Minister never crossed my lips. Surely, : Mr. Editor, the public .ire entitled to a correct report of wlv»t happened at meetings such as this.—l am, etc., W. GLEESON Whangamomona, 13th November.
