MOA ROAD DISTRICT. (From A Correspondent.) At an election of the Moa Road Board some, few months ago, Mr. J. B. Simpson, one of the retiring members. *ai an unsuccessful candidate. At several meetings of the Board prior to tlie election. Mr. Simpson had very forcible called the attention of the Board to the need for greater activity in the enforcement of the Noxious Weeds Act, and it was thought by many that this had a good deal to do with th> small support given him at the poll. Lately a vacancy ' has been caused at t'.e Board's table by the retirement of l!r. F. Bracegirdlc, who has left the district. Nomination's for candidates to fill his place were called, and Mr- Simpson was approached by ratepayers from different parts of the district to allow himself to be nominated. This he at first declined, not at all liking the treatment he had received at the above-mentioned election. However, finally he agreed, but on the distinct understanding that. if elected, he was at once soing to take up his former stand as regards the vigorous prosecution of all possible means to stamp out the noxious weeds pests, which in his opinion had largely been neglected in the past. It must uo a' source of gratification to him to find that he was returned to the Board unopposed, though had there been a contest and he had been elected, ; t would have given added strength to.his position on the Board on this particular -—-tioa- \' ' k
