FIRES.
SOLDIER'S HOME DESTROYED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Carterton, Last Night. A fire at Ahiakouka late this after■noon completely gutted one of the new i soldiers' concrete dwellings occupied by Southey, late of Whakataki. Southey was milking at the time. It is supposed the fire started in an unfinished •washhouse. Soldiers generally complain of the lack of water and have urged the Government to complete the cottages. The insurance is not available.
