| Tt is announced that at the conference at the Colonial Office regarding the National Relief Fund it was decided to place £250,000 at the disposal of the overseas settlement committee for assistance to persona who have suffered hardship from the war, or who desire to emigrate to the Dominions. Another quarter of a million will ba available later if required. The Dominions' representatives have j agreed that the money should be used to pky railway and shipping fares, and buy outfits and clothing to provide maintenance until employment is found. Applicants, who will be mostly persons seeking employment, must be approved by a High Commissioner or Agent-General. Tho scheme operates immediately. Mr. L. C. M. Amery (Under-Secretary for the Colonies) stated that he was examining the whole question of the inadequacy of berths for the Dominions. Cable Assn.
