THE PAHIATUA SEAT. By Telegraph.— Press Association. Dannevirke, Nov. o. Mr. A. M'Nicol, Reform candidate for the I'ahiatua scat, opened his campaign in the Dannevirke Town Hail last evening. He devoted his speech mainly to showing how the country might be fully developed and said roading and railway construction, the hydro electric power and housing schemes were largely contingent on a properly organised immigration policy, which would provide the much-needed labor. He declared himself a straight-out supporter of Mr. Massey, because he was the only leader who had made a practical attempt to form a National Party. The candidate was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence. j THE PATEA SEAT. Hawera, Last Night. Mr. R. W. J. .McNeill to-day announced he would be a candidate for the Patea seat as a sane Laborite. ' MR. ASTBORY'S MEETINGS. . A correspondent writes: —Mr- Astbury has been holding meetings, at Okaiawa, Te Roti, Pihama, Riverlea, and other centres. The meetings have been well attended, and the candidate received favorable and sympathetic hearings. The general impression, is gaining ground that Mr. Astbury's chances are extremely rosy. Numbers of farmers and other electors have gone to him and volunteered the information that they will support him and assist to -further his candidature. They are dissatisfied with the Government's administration, ■and recognise the plucky persistence with which Mr. Astbury comes at it again. They also Tealise that the dairy industry has not had altogether a "fair deal," and think, it is time one actually engaged in the industry should represent them. Committees are being formed at every centre and a determination exists to further his candidature by every means in their power. MR.' MASTERS AT INGLEWOOD. Mr. Robert Masters had an audience of about 400 at his Inglewood meeting on Tuesday evening. Mr. J. Sutherland (Mayor) presided, and throughout his whole two hourß Mr. Masters was given an attentive hearing. At the conclusion a vote of confidence was carried. After the meeting Mr. Masters was entertained by a large number of his supporters at Mr. Young's tea rooms. I,
