| B ANOTHER PLEA IN PARLIAMENT. (By Wire.—Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Last Night. The, hard lot of superannuated public servants who find themselves in poor circumstances owing to the increased cost of living was urged again in the House to-day by Dr. Newman. 1 Mr. Massey assured the House that nothing would please him better than to accede to the request being made, but the Government could not do more this session. The position of the Consolidated Fund would not permit of it. He had been looking into the position that morning in considering the Supplementary Estimates, which were very heavy. He realised the best part of the year from the revenue standpoint was still ahead, but even then the situation demanded caution. x i i
