There appears to be a severe gale at sea and it has dislocated Shipping movements along tho West Const and in took Strait somewhat. The Rarawa was unable to cross the Manukau bar yesterday evening, and word was receded by the New Plymouth office of the Northern Steamship Company that she would cross at 5' o'clock this morning and reach New Plymouth late this afternoon. She will- then sail for Onehunga at 10 o'clock to-night.. The Baden Powell, which loft Wellington Shortly after midnight on Sunday for New Plymouth, had not put in an appearance last night and she was believed to be sheltering somewhere along the coast. s
Humours in New Plymouth concerning the Corrana, which left Nelson at 4 pm. yesterday for New Plymouth created some anxiety for that'vessel's safety, a report being current that she had gone ashore while leaving the Nelson harbor. No confirmation of the story, however, was received, and the local manager of the Union Company had not been advised of any such ofcurrence. J
