A PEA-RIFLE FATALITY. • By Telegraph.—Press A«sn.—Copyrljht. Ashburton, Last Night. Buncan Ericaon, aged 17, a cadet on the Methven railway, met with a fatal aceident at Winchmore yesterday. - He was leaning on a pea-rifle when it accidently discharged and the bullet entered the lower region of the body. He died in hospital in Timaru on Saturday. , „ A NEW WAY TO DIE. Whangarei, Nov. 3. A man named John Green, aged 00, married, committed suicide. At Reotahi yesterday, while the owner was absent, he got on board a launch, tied the anchor to his feet and went over•board. When the owner returned he pulled up the anchor and found the ■dead body. Attempts at resuscitation 1 failed. No cause is yet assigned for the act. > A WOMAN'S SUICIDE. Wellington, Nov. 3. A young woman, named Ella Caroline .Tackson, residing with her parents at Brooklyn, committed suicide by cutting her throat with a knife. She had been in ill health for some years and at times very despondent. She retired to bed on Saturday night as usual. Her mother was aroused by sounds yesterday morning and, on going to her daughter's room, found her in a dying condition.
