BETTER VALUE FOR WORKERS. HOUSES FOR BANK CLERKS. (By Wire.—Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Last Night, ihe amendments introduced into tlie Housing Bill to-day raise the limit of income under the workers' dwelling clauses from £275 to £3OO, with a maximum of £350, in the case of the applicant with children. The limit of the value of a dwelling erected for a worker is increased from £750 to £775. The section of the Bill dealing with homes for groups of civil servants is amended to provide that an advance to a society or member of a society may amount to 90 per cent of the value of the land, plus the estimated value of tlie improvement for which the advance is made. Advances may he made to a society to cover land purchase, subdivision, roading, drainage, lighting, water supply, recreation grounds, libraries, and other conveniences, as well as the erection of dwelling houses. A new part Is added to the Sill authorising banking institutions carrying on business in New Zealand to provide dwellings for sale or lease to members of their staff.
