WORK PROCEEDING AS USUAL "
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Oct 80. The watersiders this morning responded to the call for labor to work the colliers from Newcastle. Work on the wharves is proceeding as. usual. No reason was given for the resump-' tion of work, the men simply returned when the roll was called. Both sides are' reticent. THE MINERS' TROUBLE. ATTITUDE OP LABOR ALLIANCE. Wellington, Oct. 30. The Alliance of Labor has replied to Mr. Massey's letter, urging the adoption of a reasonable attitude and an attempt to settle the coal mining dispute, The Alliance expresses regret that its suggestion for a conference between the parties to the mining dispute with a Gov ernment representative as chairman has been rejected by the employers. The miners were not prepared to file the dig. puto under the Act of 1911, but wera willing to accept an independent chairman and negotiate immediately under the Disputes Investigation Act, but beyond this they would not go.
